Car

The Castle is located in the pedestrian historic center and is not directly accessible by car.

Recommended Parking: Caliterna -  A multistory paid parking structure a few minutes walk from the city center

Getting to the Castle 

With Stairs (5 mins):  

  • Exit the parking lot and continue onto Riva Edmondo De Amicis / Largo Amulia. 

  • After the arch, turn left and walk up Salita ai Piai (staircase) 

  • Turn left and then slightly right towards Calle dei Lauri 7. 

Without Stairs: 

  • Walk on level ground towards Piazza Marconi and follow the flat route described on the Google Maps

Bus

The line 20 bus connects Trieste to Muggia. The journey takes 40 mins.

Getting to the Castle 

With Stairs (5 mins): 

  • From Piazzale Curiel, walk towards the seafront (Largo Amulia / Riva De Amicis).

  • Take the Salita ai Piai staircase.

  • Turn all the way left and then slightly right onto Calle dei Lauri 7

Without Stairs (8 mins):  

  • From Piazzale Curiel, proceed on Via Tonello and cross towards Largo Caduti per la Libertà.

  • Take Via Battisti in the direction of Piazza Marconi (Piazza della Repubblica).

  • From Piazza Marconi, continue on Via Verdi.

  • Turn right into the alley and follow the constant uphill road to Calle dei Lauri 7.

Ferry

The Delfino Verde ferry connects the center of Trieste to Muggia. The journey takes 30 mins and has no intermediate stops.

  • Walk along the pier and turn left towards Largo Nazario Sauro / SP14

  • Turn right and take Salita ai Piai (staircase).

  • Turn all the way left and then slightly right onto Calle dei Lauri 7.

Without Stairs: 

  • Walk on level ground towards Piazza Marconi and follow the flat route described on the Google Maps
